The most satisfying path to success and personal fulfillment comes through tracking our own self-development. Self or personal development is not measured by how financially stable you are or external success. Instead, it is determined by our productiveness and efforts to develop ourselves mentally as well as physically.

In the process of developing ourselves, we also aim to showcase our talent, skills, and abilities. Self-Improvement is more than just what people think, It’s an overall development of a person both internally and externally.

Self-Development is a process of improving oneself in various aspects of our life. Self-improvement begins with a little awareness of who you are, your values, beliefs, and the goal you wish to pursue.
Life, people, and career can be hard, so always remind yourself that you are more than what others think about you and their opinion,  and continue pursuing what is meaningful to you and reach to your full potential. Analyze how each experience life brings can be used for greater self-knowledge and better decisions in the future. As you gain a strong sense of who you are, you prepare yourself to start planning, mapping, and pursuing your own set goals and aims of life.

In my opinion, self-development is a journey of self-discovery, self-improvement, and self-realization. It’s a path or a way of our destination.
If there’s one thing that we all have in common, it’s that each of us is aware of our own flaws. There are many things people wish they could change in themselves, many have aspirations and dreams but don’t have the required self-motivation to accomplish them. Everyone needs support and direction to meet their life goals.

If a person wants to improve herself/himself then they should follow some practices in their lives, such as:

SET YOUR GOALS : Set the right goals that are In line with your life purpose. All your life goals (such as family, career, health, finance, personal development, and so on) need to be matched and support each other because if your goals from different categories of your life are clashing, then it’s possible that you’re likely to be demotivated to achieve it.
Goal-setting is an important process. Setting goals helps activate new behaviors, helps guides your focus towards your goals. Set STRAM goals, i.e. Specific, Trackable, Relevant, Attainable, Motivating. If you prefer or follow another method for this then go for it. Always review your own goals from time to time and make any changes accordingly.

STAY ORGANIZED : Wake up early in the morning as having a morning routine is a common habit among successful people. Working hard and smart are the other aspects you do to reach your set goals.

Have a well-organized mini calendar for yourself of what to do and what-not-to-do in the process of self-improvement or achieving your goals. The point to be highlighted here is just to have the right attitude towards your aim as it will help you remain focused on important matters.

POSITIVE MINDSET : The power of positivity is immense and staying positive always is good for the functioning of the whole body. There are some ways by which we can keep ourselves positive, such as- Focusing on good things and ignore the negativity around ourselves, Always practice gratitude as it reduces stress, improves self-confidence. Think of good moments, or things that bring you some kind of happiness and a smile on your face, and try to express your gratitude at least once a day.

TALK TO EXPERT (POSITIVE SELF-TALK) : We tend to be the hardest on ourselves and be our own worst reviewers. Over time, this can cause us to form a negative opinion of ourselves. To overcome this, we need to respond with positive messages to others as well as to our brain, to stop this, you’ll need to be mindful of the voice in your head and respond with positive messages.
For example: Instead of thinking “This is too hard,” try “This is going to take some hard work.”
Last but not the least, In the process or routine of self-improvement don’t forget to take care of yourself, take out some time for yourself, perform some self-care activities, eat healthily, do some exercises, and keep smiling. Your health is precious and important for achieving success.

It’s probably not a big surprise that I’m a fan of people who try to self-develop and improve themselves. Listening to people’s real-life experiences is a source of constant inspiration for me.

My life has never been so smooth, From battling comments on my weight, body shape, and judgmental stares, Although I have never been too fat, while people consider slim and fair women as beautiful and attractive. So when I was 64 kg I used to see thin girls wearing trendy clothes and then I look myself in a mirror with a chubby face, big stomach, and thick thighs. During the lockdown, I decided to improve myself. I became a new person after losing 17 kg. Besides this, I worked on upgrading my skills, such as self-confidence and some career-related learning skills. My internship went remote due to the coronavirus pandemic, when my friends gave up on their career I still tried my best to do some productive work thou I was also a bit clueless about how to do it.

I was unaware of the development levels a person has while performing any task, I got to know about it while working for BRAT (Blanchard Research & Training), from then I try to find out my competence and commitment level relevant to the task or any given activity, then accordingly I apply the appropriate leadership style myself to it by asking for required direction and support.

I’m still improving myself, the process is not over yet

CONCLUSION

Self-Development is a lifelong journey that every individual should take because whoever you are today, you can be better tomorrow. Life gives us a lot of chances to improve ourselves and we must not let these opportunities pass.

Be self-aware, know your flaws and work on them, why? Because you deserve to be your best self. Set goals for yourself and work hard to achieve them. Organize your life, not just your routine, and be the person that you had always hoped to become. Surround yourself with positive influences and be that positive influence for someone else, life is too short to not love yourself.
